Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Response

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team back to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
