Barcelona to Host Historic Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in La Liga 30 months after they moved out so building work could begin.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted an open training session on the home pitch in early November. Officials stated approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body to host the next European match versus the German side on 9 December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place at Estadio OlĂmpic LluĂs Companys.
