Jurgen Klopp says a return to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and providing guidance to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

The club claimed England's top flight under Arne Slot, though countless followers who adore the manager would embrace the notion of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he told the podcast host: “I stated I refuse to lead another team on English soil. So that means in case it's my former club...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, so I might decide later on, I don’t know. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations must arise to draw him back to the touchline, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing in the rain for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to media briefings four times, three times a week or having 10-12 interviews each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad talking freely, is pleasant. We won a lot of games so there was often great spirits around the place. I still have the captain's chuckle vividly recalled for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that won the league in the previous season. The team has suffered four consecutive matches in every contest after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion of it representing the start of a downward turn.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, and the effect at the club. The forward lost his life in a road accident with his brother recently.

“How do you replace such an individual? It’s not about his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the dressing room missing him. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A devastating blow for his teammates also. Not a single person would cite it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area which he filled completely. Handling this emotionally is difficult. Unbearable.”
